How the index is built

Two cohorts, classified the same way on the full job description: frontier (Forbes AI 50 + CB Insights AI 100) and a curated panel of Fortune 500 enterprises. A role counts as agentic only on a hard signal — a named framework, a protocol like MCP, or a multi-agent architecture — or two distinct softer signals; a generic "agentic AI" mention is not enough. We link out to every careers page and host no listings. The full method, the refresh cadence and a comparison with other agentic-jobs trackers are on thedata & methodology page. Agentic AI jobs — frequently asked questions

What is the Agentic AI Jobs index?

It tracks 3336 live AI and agent-related roles across a curated watchlist of 270 companies, sorted into categories from agent engineering to AI governance, so you can see where agent hiring is actually happening. The current snapshot is from September 2026.

How many of these roles are actually about AI agents?

Of the 3336 tracked roles, 2200 (66%) are agentic — explicitly about building, operating, evaluating, or governing AI agents, rather than general AI or ML work.

Where does the jobs data come from?

Postings are fetched directly from company career sites and applicant-tracking systems across the watchlist, then categorised — not scraped from third-party job boards. Each role links back to the original posting. The full methodology, refresh cadence and dataset downloads are published at getreadyforagents.com/jobs/data.

Is this a job board?

No. The Agentic AI Jobs Index is a market-data source: it counts and classifies open agent-specific roles at a defined set of companies and publishes the dataset under CC BY 4.0. It hosts no listings and has no apply flow; every role links to the employer's own careers page.

How often is the jobs index updated?

It is refreshed every Monday from each tracked company's public careers feed, and a monthly report is archived on the first of the month; the current edition is from September 2026.

What counts as an agentic AI job?

Roles focused on building, deploying, evaluating, securing, or governing autonomous AI agents — agent engineering, agent ops and infrastructure, evals and quality, AI governance and risk, and AI security — as distinct from general data-science or ML positions.

Your competitors' job posts place them on the maturity curve. The assessment places you — and names the roles to hire next.
