Why the numbers — anatomy of a score

Claude Code · 81.6/100
Market demand 93
Developer adoption 72
Real usage 81
Production-readiness 48
Community 50
Momentum 65

Six signals, weighted — market demand heaviest. Closed-source tools with no public code (like Cursor) are scored on demand alone, which is why coding agents read “demand-led”.

Agent Reality Index — frequently asked questions

What is the Agent Reality Index?

The Agent Reality Index ranks 92 AI agent tools across 4 categories by real-world signals rather than GitHub stars or vendor opinion. It blends market demand, developer adoption, real usage, momentum, production-readiness, and community into a single 0–100 score, and is refreshed monthly (last updated 15 June 2026).

How is the index scored?

Each tool gets a 0–100 score from six weighted signals: market demand (weighted most heavily), developer adoption, real usage, production-readiness, community, and momentum. Closed-source tools with no public repository are scored on real demand alone. The methodology page documents the full weighting.

Why does it rank by demand instead of GitHub stars?

GitHub stars measure popularity among developers who use GitHub, not real-world adoption — they can be inflated and never decay. The index leads with how much a tool is actually searched for and asked about inside AI tools, which tracks genuine usage far better than a star count.

How often is the Agent Reality Index updated?

It is rebuilt monthly from fresh data, so rankings move as demand, adoption, and usage shift. The current edition was last updated 15 June 2026.

What categories of agent tools does it cover?

The index sorts tools into 4 categories — Frameworks, Low-Code Platforms, Coding Agents, Autonomous Assistants — each with its own ranked board.
