West Monroe reports 550+ internally-built agents in four months; CIOs recalibrate governance frameworks

According to West Monroe's Chief AI Officer, more than 200 employees across departments have created over 550 AI agents since the company's internal AI store launched in May 2026, with approximately 15% of the firm now building agents regularly, many without technical or engineering background. The rapid agent proliferation is forcing CIOs to recalibrate governance and oversight frameworks to manage sprawl across the organization.
