Notion discontinues email client as more than half of users hand off email workflows to AI agents

Notion announced it will shut down Notion Mail, its Gmail client launched in April 2025, on September 22, 2026. According to Notion's X post, more than half of Notion Mail users manage emails without opening their inbox, instead relying on AI agents to handle email workflows. The company said it is investing resources into agent capabilities rather than email infrastructure, with most user data remaining in Gmail.
