Meta CEO acknowledges AI agent development pace slower than anticipated

According to TechCrunch, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told staff at an internal town hall that the pace of AI agent development had not accelerated as executives previously expected. Zuckerberg said the perceived upside of Meta's new AI-focused structure had not materialized yet, though he expected improvements within three to six months; Meta had laid off approximately 8,000 employees and reassigned 7,000 to AI groups earlier in the year in anticipation of faster progress.
