Google releases Gemini 4 Carbon model and expands API access for file editing

According to The Verge, Google released Gemini 4 Carbon claiming top position on Artificial Analysis benchmarks with improvements in coding, agentic tasks, and cybersecurity. Concurrently, Google opened Gemini and Search APIs to third-party developers and expanded file editing capabilities including document and PDF manipulation.
