Ford rehires 300+ veteran engineers after AI fails to match quality control standards

According to BBC News, Ford has rehired more than 300 veteran quality inspectors in recent years after automated quality systems failed to match their performance standards. Charles Poon, Ford's vice president of vehicle hardware engineering, told reporters that AI performance depends on training data quality and that the company had not adequately leveraged the experience of its most knowledgeable engineers across product cycles.
