Two-thirds of CIOs held accountable for AI agents they don't control, survey finds

According to the IBM Institute for Business Value survey reported by CIO.com, two-thirds of CIOs and CTOs are accountable for AI systems they don't fully control as business units and employees deploy agents independently. Seventy percent of IT leaders lack visibility into deployed agents, creating an accountability gap as shadow AI adoption outpaces governance infrastructure.
