IBM survey finds two-thirds of CIOs accountable for AI agents outside their control

According to IBM Institute for Business Value research, two-thirds of CIOs and CTOs are held responsible for AI systems they do not fully control as business units and employees deploy agents independently, and 70% of IT leaders surveyed lack visibility into these deployments. The accountability gap reflects shadow AI deployment patterns in enterprises.
