U.S. government orders Anthropic to shut off Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models globally

According to TechCrunch and Ars Technica, the U.S. Commerce Department on Friday ordered Anthropic to immediately disable access to Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 worldwide, citing national security concerns and reports of a jailbreak vulnerability affecting safeguards on cybersecurity, chemistry, and biology prompts. Anthropic complied the same evening. Mythos 5, Anthropic's most capable model, had been restricted to roughly 50 vetted organizations including Amazon, Apple, Google, and Microsoft through a program called Project Glasswing for defensive cybersecurity work.
