How agentic hiring shows up in Australia & NZ
The local market is a mix: global AI companies staffing their Australian and New Zealand teams, and homegrown companies — Canva, Atlassian, Relevance AI and others — building agents from here. Across the index, 29 companies are advertising 57 AI roles located in Australia & New Zealand, 67% of them agentic.
A notable share — 33% — are forward-deployed, applied or solutions roles: people who embed with customers to put agents into production. That pattern is strongest among the global platforms entering the market — Anthropic, OpenAI, Databricks and Palantir tend to land with deployment talent first — while homegrown companies hire more core engineering.

What they're hiring for
ANZ demand skews even harder to agent engineering than the global index — there is almost no local governance or security hiring yet.

Notes & method
The ANZ view filters the full Agentic AI Jobs Index to roles whose stated location is in Australia or New Zealand. It is a small, fast-moving slice — 57 roles in the July 2026 snapshot — so read it as a directional signal, not a census. Two caveats: some postings list only a location count (e.g. "3 Locations") and may hide an Australian office we can't see; and 2 of the roles are in New Zealand. Roles are classified on the full job description and we link out to every original posting. Dataset CC BY 4.0; cite as "Agentic Ready Jobs Index, Prefactor". Updated 20 July 2026.
